What Satellite TV Does
In a nutshell, here is how I think satellite
tv works:
The satellite TV receiver is an electronic
box that you keep in your house next to or on top of your television
set. It allows you to change the satellite TV channels.
The satellite in the sky sends a signal
(full of programming bliss) down to earth where it is picked
up by the satellite dish that is mounted on your roof. The signal
is converted to a TV picture by the receiver that is sitting
next to or on top of your television set and the subsequent
images are then magically displayed on your tv screen and the
audio signals are broadcast through the speakers on your tv
or through your theater system (You lucky dog).
The only purpose of a satellite dish
is to capture the signal that has been sent to earth from the
orbiting (yet stationary) satellite. The only purpose of the
television, you may be thinking at this point, is to sucker
you into buying stuff for it. It's kinda lilke an 8 year old
girl.... never satisfied with what she's got.
The satellite tv receiver really is
at the center of attention. The receiver has the job of decoding
the satellite signal. It converts the satellite signal into
seperate audio and video signals and then sends those signals
to your TV.
The dish and receivers that you will
need are completely free when you sign up for a programming
package with either Dish Network or Directv®. The deal includes
free installation plus instructions from an installer on how
to operate your system.
You can use the links near the top of
this page in order to get more information or to order a Dish
Network or Directv® package deal online or via a toll free
phone number.
